About the category Scooters for beginners

Freestyle Scooters for Beginners

In this category, you will find freestyle scooters designed for complete beginners. They are ideal for the first rides in the skatepark and on the street, and will help riders learn basic tricks, jumps, and scooter handling.

Beginner models are designed to be affordable, easy to handle, and sturdy enough for initial training sessions.

The differences between individual scooters are mainly in the handlebar height, deck dimensions, and type of wheels.

🛞 Wheel Type: Plastic or Aluminum Core

For beginner freestyle scooters, the main focus is often on the difference between plastic and aluminum wheel cores. This division usually determines for which rider the scooter is suitable.

Freestyle scooters with plastic wheel cores
These models are mainly suitable for smaller and lighter children who are just starting with freestyle scootering. The scooter's construction is designed for lower loads and smoother starts.
Plastic wheels are cheaper, but under heavier loads or harder impacts, they may wear out faster or crack.
Freestyle scooters with aluminum wheel hubs
These scooters are suitable for older children or heavier beginners who want a sturdier and more durable setup.
The aluminum core of the wheels is significantly stronger and better handles harder impacts during tricks.
❌ Most common mistake: choosing the cheapest scooter for an older child based solely on price. With greater weight, weaker components wear out significantly faster.

🧭 How to choose a freestyle scooter for a beginner

  • Rider's height – the correct handlebar height significantly affects the control of the scooter.
  • Rider's weight – heavier riders should opt for a sturdier construction.
  • Type of wheels – plastic wheels for younger children, aluminum for older beginners.
  • Reserve for the future – if you know that the rider will grow or ride often, it pays off to choose a sturdier model.

The load capacity of scooters is often stated to be around 100 kg. However, it is necessary to consider that during jumps, the load increases several times.

✅ What to Remember Before Every Ride

  • Warm-up and Stretching – a short stretch helps prevent injuries.
  • Protective gear – we always recommend a helmet and pads.
  • Scooter Check – before each ride, check the bolts, handlebars, and any cracks around the welds.
  • Regular maintenance – we recommend following scooter maintenance.
  • On our website, you can also find guides such as How to Clean Bearings.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Which freestyle scooter should I choose for a beginner?
The most important factors are the rider's height, weight, and type of wheels. Younger children often only need a basic model.
Is a plastic wheel hub enough?
For smaller and lighter children at the beginning, yes. For older riders, we recommend an aluminum hub.
