Headsets are an integral and very important part of a freestyle scooter. The headset primarily serves to allow the handlebars to turn. In our store, you can purchase headsets from the brands: Root Industries, Bestial Wolf, Chilli. The main difference between headsets is whether they are threaded (fit threaded forks) or threadless. We further divide them into integrated (only industrial bearings) or non-integrated (with cups). According to the type, we determine which board and fork the headset fits. If the headset is for threadless forks, you need to purchase one of the compression systems, which is used to tighten the headset to the deck. By improperly tightening the headset, you shorten both its lifespan and the lifespan of the fork.

Headset Distribution

THREADED THREADLESS INTEGRATED THREADLESS NON-INTEGRATED

 

THREADED

Threaded headsets are used only for threaded forks.

It is the oldest headset and compression system used in freestyle scootering.

We find it only in cheap scooters up to 3,000 CZK.

They consist of a wreath of balls, bowls, a fork ring, and two nuts that tighten against each other (these are so-called. counter nuts).

 

 

THREADLESS INTEGRATED

Integrated headsets are used only for threadless forks.

are also used only for integrated board bowls.

Do not use for race forks. The headset, board, and fork can be destroyed!

The headset consists of: industrial bearings, a ring (headset spacer), and a fork ring.

You must use some compr. system for tightening the headset.

 

 

THREADLESS NON-INTEGRATED

Non-integrated headsets are used only for threadless forks.

They are also used only for non-integrated boards.

Do not use for threaded forks. The headset, board, and fork can be destroyed!

The headset consists of: industrial bearings, cups, a ring (headset spacer), and a fork ring.

You must use some compr. system for tightening the headset.

It is not used much today.

 

How to extend the lifespan of a headset:

  • always keep the headset tightened
  • keep it clean
  • occasionally clean it and apply some oil.

 

A few of our tips:

  • If you choose a threadless headset, you also need to use a threadless fork.
  • Conversely, a threaded headset requires a threaded fork.
  • Non-integrated headsets are compatible with most frames and need to be properly installed.
  • Integrated headsets are compatible only with integrated boards. No tools are required for its assembly.
